Holiday Cocktails with a Twist
The Almond Cow is a nut milk machine that has an endless array of uses; from almond milk with no fillers, to cold brew coffee, to lattes, to pulp for donuts and cookies - this one machine can create a beverage of any kind - including cocktails. You can get $25 off your purchase with this link.
You can absolutely make these cocktails the traditional way, either shaken or stirred. I’m sure there’s a bartender or two who feels like the idea of making a cocktail in a machine is blasphemy - and I don’t totally disagree. But I thought it was a ton of fun to do things a bit differently (removes stick from a$$) and the flavor of the cocktails will be different since they are being infused with the ingredients in the filler basket of the almond cow. Whichever way you chose to make these cocktails, they are sure to be a delight.
Blue Magik Mojito Recipe:
3 cups sparkling water
3 oz white rum
2 tbsp agave syrup
1/8 tsp butterfly pea powder
3 fresh mint leaves
1/2 cup ice
Place fresh mint leaves into the filter basket
Fill the base of the Almond Cow with ice, rum, sparkling water, butterfly pea powder, and agave
Serve over a glass of fresh ice and garnish with fresh mint and limes
Hot Toddy Recipe:
500 mL hot water
5T rum or bourbon
2 tbsp maple syrup
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 lemon, peel and pith removed
Add the water, rum, and maple syrup to the collector cup. Place cinnamon sticks and lemon in the filter basket. Serve in a mug with slices of fresh lemon and a cinnamon stick.
Spiced Buttered Bourbon Recipe:
1 tbsp vegan or ghee butter
1 tsp coconut sugar
2 oz bourbon
4 oz almond milk, made in the Almond Cow
A dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla
Warm the almond milk on the stove over medium heat until steaming (do not boil). Add the butter, sugar, rum, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla to a mug. Add in the heated milk and whisk. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg.
This cocktail isn’t made in the almond cow like the others, but the almond milk is so I decided it counts. I haven’t tried the traditional buttered rum cocktail but this was my spin on the traditional recipe because I am usually more of a bourbon girl - and I LOVED IT! A silky smooth burst of steaming sweetness followed by a bite of bourbon at the end. If you’d prefer, you can omit the bourbon and have a deliciously creamy warm winter mocktail.
