Mixed Berry Oats
This fall has been different from every other. The leaves seem brighter, more colorful, more inviting. The crisp air invigorates my lungs with every deep inhale. The moon and the stars become brighter and more alive as the days become dark before dinner.
I’ve chosen to celebrate this fall by filling my days with warmth in every detail. I’ve placed candles all over the house and light them for ambiance. When the traditional fireplace isn’t warming our home, I have the Yule Log channel burning brightly on the TV.
As the temperature drops, the smell of cinnamon and apple float through the air of our home. There’s nothing better than a delicious cup of cider to warm and inspire you as the fire crackles in the background.
Delicious Crisp Fall Cider Recipe
A few cinnamon sticks, a spoonful of whole cloves, nutmeg, allspice, 4 – 5 apple cut into large chunks, half an orange (blood orange creates amazing flavor), 1/4c brown sugar
Place all of the ingredients into a pot and cover ingredients with several inches of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer covered for 2 hours. After 2 hours, take the orange out and mash up the apples. Simmer uncovered for another hour. Voila!
