The Beginning of the Journey: Overwhelm, Confusion, and Finding Peace in the Middle of it All
The beginning of a journey can feel overwhelming and confusing. I remember a time when I was sitting at my kitchen table/desk and I was feeling so overwhelmed. I had a desire to do something big, to follow this pull to do something great for the world and to unleash my inner badass but I felt stuck. Where do you even start when trying to conquer something as big as this?!
I read so many books and felt like what they were saying made sense but…how did this fit into my life? It felt like a cloudy, murky topic that, on the surface, made sense but I couldn’t quite figure out how to feel high vibe or what manifestation actually meant. How do you work but not work too much? How do you know what is inspired action and what is forced action?
HOW TO SEE THROUGH THE CLOUDS
Relax!
Honestly, it’s a cloudy journey all the way. It takes time to get used to – any time you stretch your mind to think in a new way, to consider a new topic, or to understand a new idea. Allow yourself to feel a bit cloudy and understand that it won’t always feel this way. The more you experiment with new ideas that challenge your previous ones or push yourself to think in a new way, the faster your mind will wrap itself around this new idea and things will begin to ‘click’.
Breathe
This is the perfect time to begin experimenting with meditation. When I first began considering meditation, I was scared of it. Growing up I had been taught that meditation leaves room for evil spirits to enter your mind. That is far from the truth! There are so many health benefits that come from meditation: reducing anxiety and blood pressure, to name a few.
For those a bit trepidatious of meditation – a great place to start is UCLA. They have amazing guided meditations that help you relax, calm the mind, and ease into a meditation practice.

Allow Flow
Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up. Don’t suppress anything because you feel it’s not ‘high-vibe’ or positive. It’s ok to be frustrated and unsure. It’s ok to feel upset or behind. It’s ok to feel any emotion you perceive to be negative. These emotions are showing you how to move forward. Although, on the surface they may seem negative, they’re really beacons pointing you in the right direction.
For example, if you’re struggling to feel supported on your journey, flip the mirror around, and ask yourself ‘am I supporting myself on this journey?’.
The most important thing to remember is that – where you are at is perfect because your journey is unique to you. Your future is being shaped for you by the Universe as it moves things around to fit your vision (even if you only have a feeling, not an actual vision). The most important thing is to keep going, keep making an effort, continue working on your personal growth, and find a place within yourself that believes that you deserve to be happy.
It’s called ‘messy’ inspired action for a reason, beautiful! You don’t have to know all the answers, do everything right, or have a clear vision. Know that having a feeling, acknowledging this call to action, and making an effort to move towards it is enough. As you go along, you’ll be guided and directed towards the path you’re meant to take.
