Why It Isn't Enough to Just "Be a Good Person": How to Align with Abundance While Being Good
I hear it all the time – why is this happening to me, I’m a good person! Life isn’t fair, I’m a good person and I get punished for it – greedy, selfish people always get their way! The truth is ‘good’ isn’t good enough. That might sound harsh but there’s many pieces to this puzzling experience and there’s actually a very positive explanation.
For starters, I want to clarify – it’s GOOD to good. Donate to charity. Give a sandwich to a homeless person. Hold the door open for someone just to be nice.
Do good. Feel good. Release expectations.
Often times the end of the “I’m a good person” complaint ends with something along the lines of ‘but, no one ever does it back to me so why should I bother’.
Giving without expecting something directly in return is the key to a positive experience. True giving comes from a selfless vibe. It’s a very unique vibration that can’t be faked – the universe knows when you’re giving just to get something back because the vibe is different.
Releasing the expectation when doing something nice for someone makes the experience so much better AND allows you to align with the vibe of the universe that created the concept of good and bad karma.
Emma – there’s selfish people who have bad motives getting ahead, how is this possible?!
It’s frustrating to see someone get ahead from doing things that harm the planet, harm other people, or are just shitty in general. But, the laws of the universe don’t play favorites or keep a naughty/nice list. Someone can do some shady shit and still ‘get ahead’ because they’ve aligned themselves in a place of material gain. (Think gravity – it doesn’t matter if you’re good or not…drop something and it’s going to fall to the ground).
The laws of the universe that relate to money are purely based around our internal feelings or worth and value. Clearing blocks and stepping into a place of Beyoncé-like self-assuredness and the act of doing good deeds are unrelated. It’s important to remember that happiness doesn’t come from pure wealth. There’s a ton of rich people driving nice cars with frowny faces on the other side of the tinted window.
FRUSTRATION BE GONE
I understand how frustrating it can be to see examples of seeming injustice. However, there’s a few important things to note about our personal experiences.
What we focus on is what we get
When you look around and see a lot of things going wrong, this a clue to step back and refocus. Our brain filters information based on what it thinks we want to see. We are taking in so many sensory details we can’t handle them all so our Insta-like algorithm in our brain filters the results and shows us what it thinks we want to see the most. How does it know what to look for? What you pay the most attention to and what you think about.
Focusing on the positive, the person who let you go first in line and the pretty colors of the sunset and ignoring the asshole who cut you off, tells your mind you want to see less asshole and more pretty colors.
What we see happening around us is a glimpse of what is coming to us
If you’re starting to focus on desiring more money and you begin to see people all around with more money than you – this is an awesome thing! It means you’re aura is attracting what you desire. First you’ll begin to see your desires in others around you like a mirror reflecting back your desired image. Then, as you align with that mirror image, you’ll begin to see the results appear directly in your life!
If you react negatively to the reflection in your world mirror (aka get jealous or angry they have what you don’t) you’re sending a vibration out to the universe saying you don’t like this reflection.
When you desire more clients and your FB feed starts filling up with other women making lots of money, selling lots of courses, and signing lots of clients – this is a reflection of what is being attracted into your life. Celebrate their success with them! Show the universe you’re excited about this lifestyle and reflection of what to come.
MATERIAL GAIN IS NOT LINKED TO HAPPINESS
A life lived vibrantly is one that puts the pursuit of happiness and joy first. Chase the moments that make you smile from ear to ear. Focus on the experiences that feed your soul.
Sure, you can grind and manipulate and eventually end up with ‘success’. Or, you can flow and focus and end up with true success – meaning all you need to live an exciting and enriching life. You absolutely need money to live in this world and enjoy life, so there’s absolutely nothing wrong with desiring it, aligning with it, and using it to live life to the fullest.
