French Country Bread

I have had the craziest week dealing with a lengthy “cold” (or something of the like) and decided to spend the week allowing my body to rest. No De La Ferme A La Table was recorded this week – however I created some delicious bread a few weeks ago and decided to share this instead. As I promised – De La Ferme A La Table will have recipes every week even if they range in methods of delivery!

I’ve shared this recipe in the spirit of Paris because I’ve officially booked my accommodations for the city of love this week! Count down to my trip: 71 hours and 21 hours. Or should I say: soixante et onze jours et vingt et une heures. One of the amazing things I’ve decided to do in Paris is take a cooking class! I haven’t decided if I’m going to learn how to make Oglala choux, Crepes, or Paris-Brest but you’ll definitely be apart of that amazing experience as well. For this week, let’s light some candles, play La Vie En Rose and pin hundreds of Eiffel Tower pictures in honor of the city of love.

I love this recipe because it’s so easy! Bread making can be complicated and require the touch of perfection. However, this recipe is almost fool-proof and fun to make! Just don’t forget the salt (trust me – not pleasant on the little taste buds)

French Country Loaf Recipe

3c + 2 T Flour
1 3/4 t salt
1/2 t yeast (quick rise)
1 1/2 c cool water

The Deets:

Oven: 450

Mix flour, salt, and yeast together. Add in water. Cover the bowl and let rise for 12 – 24 hours.

Preheat the oven with the dutch oven (or any pot with a lid that is oven safe) for 30 minutes.

Shape the dough into a ball on a floured surface. Cover until the oven is preheated.

Place dough in the pot. If you’re worried about sticking, use silicone-coated parchment.

Bake for 30 minutes, covered. Then bake for 15 minutes, uncovered. Voila!
