The Benefits of Warm Lemon Water

Why are so many ladies ditching that amazing cup of liquid gold we call coffee and switching to warm lemon water instead?

Self-care – that’s why. Lemon water has amazing benefits and even tastes delicious! Plus, there are none of the calories that are associated with the flavored latte/cream/sugar that we use to spruce up our cup o’ joe.

I know that coffee is more of a lifestyle than an object.

We often use coffee as a symbol in our lives and it’s become a staple. Tired mommas, overworked bossbabes, and exhausted students alike claim to survive off of coffee to get through the day. However, lemon water can be your new coffee with a little mindset adjustment.

 

Boost Your Immune System

Lemons have lots of vitamin C in them – about a sixth of your daily recommended amount! Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning allows your body to absorb the nutrients and give the immune system a little pick me up.

 

Hydration

Staying hydrated is one of the most important keys to living a healthy lifestyle. Starting off the day with a cup of lemon water encourages healthier decisions throughout your day.

The warm lemon water is a lot more soothing to the gut than an acidic cup of coffee. Not only is it soothing but the acidity in lemons helps break down food and the potassium assists the body in transporting nutrients and waste.

 

Phytonutrients

What on earth is that? Phytonutrients are substances found in certain plants that aid in preventing disease. Basically – lemons keep your insides from oxidizing. Yay!

Usually, when you’re drinking coffee in the morning, it’s not black. Each granule of sugar and splash of cream adds up. Replacing those calories with an all-natural lemon is a great start to change your habits and better your life.

 

Where to start?

There’s no reason to stress about making changes to your diet. Try to replace your morning coffee with lemon water for just one week. If you love how you feel, make it a goal to drink lemon water each morning for another week and go from there. Do what works for you and makes you feel like your best self!
